The 2025 China Sugar Market Situation Analysis Conference will be held in Kunming from April 23rd to 25th. The conference is hosted by Yunnan Sugar Industry Association, Guangxi Sugar Industry Association, and Guangdong Sugar Industry Association, with representatives from relevant government departments, sugar industry groups, regional trade enterprises, end users, and other related units in the industry chain attending. The meeting discussed the global sugar market pattern, China´s production and sales situation, climate impact, and circulation changes. Zhong Jinchuan, Vice Chairman of the China Sugar Association, stated that the domestic sugar production has remained stable this crushing season, the consumption structure has continued to upgrade, and the market supply and demand relationship has gradually optimized, strengthening confidence in controlling non-tariff imported sugar sources.

Liu Daqi, a trader at Louis Dreyfus, pointed out that geopolitics and energy prices have a profound impact on sugar prices; Dr. Claudiu Covrig, founder of Kovrig, analyzed the impact of India and Brazil on the global sugar market and predicted that there may be a global sugar supply surplus during the next crushing season; Sama Nawang, Deputy Secretary General of the Thai Sugar and Sugar Council, shared the production and sales situation of Thailand´s sugar industry, pointing out that the price comparison between cassava and sugarcane may affect sugarcane cultivation; Senior analyst Cui Shiwei proposed the strategy of "buying inside and selling outside"; Meteorological Bureau expert Mao Liuxi warns that La Ni ñ a climate may affect sugarcane cultivation and calls for strengthening disaster prevention plans.
Deng Yi, Chairman of Yunnan Sugar Industry Association, summarized that the global sugar industry may have a slight surplus in the next crushing season, but production depends on natural conditions and policy changes. Global inventories are low, and low prices stimulate demand. It is expected that China will increase production in the next crushing season, but the increase will be limited. He called for promoting the development of sugarcane technology and ensuring sugar supply.
