As of the end of January 2025, 15 sugar factories (12 beet sugar factories and 3 Guangxi sugarcane sugar factories) had shut down during the 2024/25 sugar season (hereinafter referred to as "this sugar season"). Six sugar factories in Yunnan Province had not yet started the crushing process. During this sugar season, a total of 7.4928 million tons of sugar were produced nationwide, an increase of 1.6252 million tons or 27.7% year-on-year. The cumulative sales of sugar nationwide amounted to 3.735 million tons, an increase of 617,900 tons or 19.82% year-on-year. The cumulative sugar sales rate was 49.85%, a decrease of 3.28 percentage points year-on-year.
As of the end of January 2025, the cumulative average selling price of finished white sugar for sugar-making enterprises nationwide during this sugar-making season was 6,031 yuan/ton, a decrease of 614 yuan/ton compared to the same period last year. The average selling price of finished white sugar in January 2025 was 6,003 yuan/ton, a decrease of 558 yuan/ton compared to the same period last year.
In January alone, sugar production reached 3.0894 million tons, an increase of 416,900 tons year-on-year; sugar sales amounted to 1.2356 million tons, a decrease of 183,300 tons compared to the same period last year; and industrial inventory stood at 3.7578 million tons, an increase of 1.0073 million tons compared to the same period last year.
