From November 1st to 2nd, the 2025/26 National Sugar Production and Marketing Conference was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. Liu Yang, General Manager of China Commercial Sugar Industry Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "our company"), was invited to attend the conference.
Hosted by the China Sugar Association, this conference was attended by relevant officials from departments including the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the Ministry of Commerce, as well as over 180 industry representatives from sugar industry associations, sugar-manufacturing enterprises, and trade and circulation enterprises across major sugar-producing provinces in China.
Zhang Chonghe Yan Weimin, Chairman of the China Sugar Association, said in the conference summary that the national sugar output is expected to continue to recover during the 2025/26 sugar-making season, while sugar consumption will remain basically stable. He suggested that the entire industry should understand the situation in a scientific and objective manner, enhance confidence in the face of complex circumstances, and strengthen the industry´s resolve.
This conference focused on four core themes: "Agricultural Product Trade", "Weather and Climate", "International Market" and "Domestic Market". A number of industry experts and insiders were invited to conduct in-depth analysis and assess the situation of the domestic and international sugar markets.
During the same period of the conference, the "2025/26 Sugar Industry Development Symposium" and the "12th Standing Council Meeting of the 6th Session of the China Sugar Association and the 6th Enlarged Council Meeting of the 6th Session" were also held. Participants conducted in-depth discussions on the difficulties and problems currently faced by the development of the sugar industry.
During the conference, General Manager Liu of our company had extensive exchanges with responsible persons from the sugar industry authorities of major sugar-producing provinces, leaders of sugar industry associations, and representatives of relevant enterprises. They jointly analyzed the sugar production and marketing situation and discussed the development trends of the industry.
Through this conference, our company gained a better understanding of the current situation and trends of national sugar production and marketing, which provided an important basis for formulating business strategies for the new sugar-pressing season. In the future, our company will more actively use financial tools such as futures and options for risk management, learn from relevant successful experiences in the industry to improve the efficiency of spot circulation, conduct business in a rational manner, and enhance operational efficiency.
, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the China National Light Industry Council, attended the conference and delivered a speech. He pointed out in his speech that the entire sugar industry maintained a steady and positive development momentum during the 2024/25 sugar-making season: sugar output achieved a restorative growth for three consecutive sugar-making seasons, the industry´s economic benefits improved significantly, the income of sugarcane farmers and the benefits of sugar-manufacturing enterprises increased steadily, and raw sugar processing enterprises turned from operational difficulties to profitability. The stable development of the sugar industry has made positive contributions to consolidating and expanding the achievements of poverty alleviation and advancing rural revitalization in sugar-producing areas. Facing the 2025/26 sugar-making season, the sugar industry still confronts new situations and new problems. Zhang Chonghe stated three key challenges: first, the import of sucrose aqueous solution and white sugar premix powder still poses a severe threat to the security of the sugar industry; second, it is difficult for sugarcane farmers to increase their income despite higher output, and the operational pressure on the sugar-making industry is rising; third, the growth of sugar consumption remains weak.
