On December 16, 2025, the 7th General Meeting of the Chinese Sugar Association and the 1st (Expanded) Meeting of the 7th Council were grandly held in Nanning, Guangxi. Nearly 300 representatives from member units of the China Sugar Association attended the meeting. Liu Yang, General Manager of China Merchants Sugar Industry Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "our company"), was invited to attend the meeting.
Zhang Chonghe, former deputy director of the Central Compilation and Publication Office, secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of the China Light Industry Federation, attended the conference and delivered a speech. Li Wengang, member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the Development and Reform Commission of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and Director of the Sugar Industry Development Office of the Autonomous Region, delivered a speech at the meeting. Yan Weimin, Chairman of the 6th Council of the China Sugar Association, delivered a report on the work of the 6th Council. The conference reviewed and approved documents such as the "Work Report of the 6th Council of the China Sugar Association" and the "Financial Work Report of the 6th Council of the China Sugar Association", and elected the 7th Council of the China Sugar Association through anonymous voting. Yan Weimin was elected as the chairman, Wei Bing was elected as the vice chairman and secretary-general, and Zhong Jinchuan was elected as the vice chairman. After the election at the conference, our company was successfully re elected and elected as a member unit of the 7th Council of the China Sugar Industry Association.
Zhang Chonghe fully affirmed the remarkable achievements of the sugar industry in the past five years in his speech. In the past five sugar production periods, the cumulative sugar production in China has exceeded 50 million tons, and the sugar self-sufficiency rate has rebounded to 71.2%. These achievements are due to the correct guidance of the national sugar industry development strategy and the hard work of colleagues in the entire industry.
During the conference, representatives had in-depth exchanges on topics such as high-quality development of the sugar industry, technological innovation, and market stability. Many attending representatives believe that China´s sugar industry is currently in a critical period of transformation and upgrading, and the entire industry needs to work together to tackle challenges.
A new starting point, a new journey. During the new term of office of the China Sugar Association, our company will fully leverage our own advantages, actively fulfill our duties as a director, provide suggestions and recommendations for the development of the industry, and actively contribute our strength.
