Rabobank: The global sugar shortage in 19/20 is reduced to 1 million tons
Release Date:2020-09-24
Rabobank said on Wednesday that it expects global sugar consumption to grow 1.9% in The Year 2020/21 (October to September), partially offsetting an expected increase in sugar production as global sugar consumption is expected to decline 1.5% in 2020/20 due to the Novel Coronavirus pandemic.

Abn Amro also revised its global sugar balance sheet for 2019/20, cutting its estimate for the gap between supply and demand from 4.3 million tonnes to 1 million tonnes, mainly due to increased production in Brazil and lower consumer demand. The agency also expects a small surplus of supply and demand in 2020/21.
