South Central Brazil: Sugar production rebounded in the first half of February

In the first half of February, three sugarcane processing plants, five independent corn processing plants and two mixed processing plants were started in central and southern Brazil. During the period, 48,700 tons of sugarcane were crushed, 185.7% more than the same period last year, 21,000 tons of sugar were produced, 751.28% more than the same period last year, and 134 million liters of ethanol were produced, 28.84% more than the same period last year.
In the 20/21 season in central and southern Brazil as of February 16, a total of 588.121 million tons of sugarcane were squeezed, an increase of 3.22% over the same period last year; sugar output was 38.217,000 tons, an increase of 44.25% over the same period last year; ethanol output was 29.68 billion liters, an 8.54% decrease over the same period last year. Sugar mills use 46.2% of sugarcane to produce sugar, significantly higher than 34.48% in the same period of the last season.
